The centerpiece of the room is the dining room table and the lighting fixture which hangs above. The two should have corresponding shapes and styles. Such as a traditional, oval or rectangular mahogany table would pair perfectly with a classic chandelier of cut-crystal teardrops. However, if a dining room is dominated by a modern table of an elemental blend of stainless steel and fine woods, a contemporary lighting fixture featuring metal shades or large, clear, glass globes would be ideal.
Also, think about ceiling height when making lighting decisions. To maximize seating potential, opt for a round table. And to facilitate dining ease, utilize a single Lazy Susan on a round table or multiple Lazy Susan’s on a rectangular table.
